Film Design and Direction

In addition to general art culture, general culture, and foreign language courses, students in the department follow a curriculum consisting of creative and technological elements such as movement, image, scenario, management, editing, production, sound design, and art management, which form the elements of cinema narrative. With the comprehensive knowledge they gain on World and Turkish Cinema, they also gain a vision of the film production-distribution sector.

The educational approach shaped by the Bologna process allows students to improve themselves by choosing elective courses in their preferred theoretical and practical areas of expertise, from scenario to shooting, editing, and different types of courses such as documentary, animation, fiction, and experimental.

In the process of bringing the movement to the screen, film design and production, which also includes current technology, also make the cinema-industry relationship visible. It emphasizes that every film should reflect the sociocultural, economic and political dynamics of the society in which it was born, and that filmmaking education should be multi-faceted. When the structural functions of the representations created, such as legitimizing dominant institutions and values, and moreover, cinema being a tool for ideologies, are considered, the structure of films that not only reflects society but also shapes it becomes apparent. The way to be an artist who creates an impact is to build an infrastructure to transform acquired technical skills into narrative.
