Overview

The Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering, which was established in 2006-2007 academic year at the Akfırat campus of our university, is ambitious to provide quality education in accordance with the requirements of the day with its young and dynamic academicians as well as experienced academicians.

The courses related to electricity, electronics, computer and communication, which are the 4 basic building blocks of technology, which have entered every sector today and are impossible to give up, are given to our students during their education. Our education content is organised not only to cover theoretical knowledge but also to give our students the opportunity to practice and see the results. For this purpose, fully equipped laboratories with good technological infrastructure and technical equipment are available to our students.

In the Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering, our students have the opportunity to practice with logic circuits and basic electronics laboratories in the first two years of their education. In the third year, our students practice intensively with application-oriented communication, design with FPGA, microcontroller, electrical machines and power electronics laboratories. In the last year of their education, our students have the opportunity to work on advanced electrical and electronic subjects with PCB design and integrated circuit design laboratories.


Program Learning Objectives and Program Outcomes


The educational objectives of the undergraduate programme of the Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering at Istanbul Okan University;

Programme Learning Objectives:

  • Technical staff, educators, researchers and managers in the public and private sectors,
  • Providing engineering services on an individual or partnership basis, as a business owner with an innovative and/or entrepreneurial approach,
  • To educate engineers who can solve technical problems and work in teams in engineering, R&D, production, operation and management levels in national and international companies.
  • To train engineers who will be able to complete master's and doctoral programmes at reputable universities in Turkey and abroad in Electrical and Electronics Engineering and related disciplines or interdisciplinary fields, and who will contribute to the research world with their original research activities.
  • To research engineers who can work as researchers in European Union and TUBITAK projects.


Programme Outcomes:

  • Sufficient knowledge in mathematics, science and related engineering disciplines; The theoretical and practical knowledge in these areas, the ability to use in complex engineering problems
  • Ability to identify, define, formulate and solve complex engineering problems; Selecting and implementing appropriate analysis and modeling methods for this purpose
  • The ability to design a complex system, process, device or product under realistic constraints and conditions to meet specific requirements; The ability to apply modern design methods for this purpose
  • Ability to develop, select and use modern techniques and tools for analyzing and solving complex problems in engineering applications ; The ability to use information technologies effectively
  • Ability to design experiments, conduct experiments, collect data, analyse and interpret results for observing complex engineering problems or discipline-specific research topics
  • The ability to work effectively in disciplinary and multidisciplinary teams; Individual work skill
  • Effective communication skills in Turkish verbal and written communication; At least one foreign language knowledge; Ability to write effective reports and understand written reports, to prepare design and production reports, to make effective presentations, to give clear and clear instructions
  • Awareness of the necessity of life-long learning; Ability to access knowledge, follow developments in science and technology, and constant self-renewal skills
  • Conducting ethical principles, professional and ethical responsibility; Information about the standards used in engineering applications
  • Information on practices in business, such as project management, risk management and change management; Awareness about entrepreneurship, innovation; Information on sustainable development
  • Information on the effects of engineering applications on health, environment and safety in universal and social dimensions, and on the problems of the modern era reflected in the field of engineering; Awareness of the legal consequences of engineering solutions
  • Physics knowledge based on mathematics and chemistry knowledge; advanced mathematical knowledge, including multivariable mathematical and differential equations; Familiarity with statistics and linear algebra
  • The ability to work in both thermal and mechanical systems, including design and realization of such systems.
