Overview
Purpose of the Section
The Computer Engineering department aims to train professionals who can produce information-based solutions, think creatively, and develop systematic approaches to engineering problems in a world where technology is rapidly developing. This department aims to enable students to understand the interaction between software and hardware and to have the knowledge and skills to produce technology.
At the same time, the department provides students with a solid foundation in engineering and basic science; blending disciplines such as algorithmic thinking, programming skills and data analytics, it enables students to master the technical skills required in the world of computer engineering. In addition, it also emphasizes the development of social skills such as critical thinking, creative problem solving, teamwork and communication so that graduates can compete on a global level.
Computer engineering education prepares students to be able to direct future technologies, respond to the needs of the industry and take an active role in innovation-oriented projects. In this direction, one of the main goals is to train engineers who can produce solutions in rapidly growing areas such as information technologies, artificial intelligence, data science, cyber security, embedded systems and advanced network technologies.
The aim of this section is not only to use existing technologies; but also to develop creative solutions that will contribute to the development of technology, to implement these solutions safely and effectively, and to carry out projects that are beneficial to society.
Program Educational Objectives
The educational objectives of the Computer Engineering program are the career and professional successes that our graduates are expected to achieve within a few years of graduation:
- Acquire disciplined reasoning, critical thinking, and applied skills to identify, analyze, and solve problems.
- Communicates effectively, both orally and in writing, to express technical information, ideas and suggestions.
- Considers the professional, ethical and social responsibility of engineering technology applications.
- Acts effectively, thinks independently and works cooperatively in a team environment in a membership or leadership role.
- Actively participates in professional development, including continuous self-improvement and lifelong learning
Program Components
The program components are faculty, staff, and industry partners. The educational objectives meet the needs of students by providing opportunities for them to develop their skills to the point where they can find a job in the computing field upon graduation from the program. Alternatively, the program prepares students for graduate study in computer-related disciplines. The educational objectives meet the needs of faculty by providing opportunities for faculty to transfer their knowledge in computing and advance their careers in academia. Additionally, for faculty interested in research, the program provides students with opportunities to interact with faculty on faculty-supported research. The educational objectives are reinforced by the work of faculty members, as all students must interact with faculty on academic matters such as maintaining grading records, advising records, preparing payments for all undergraduate and graduate assistants, and more administrative duties. The educational objectives meet the needs of industry partners in that program graduates are well prepared to enter the workforce. The program is constantly updated and responsive to industry needs by receiving feedback from industry partners.
