Fanshawe College of Applied Arts and Technology, commonly known as Fanshawe College, is a public college located in Southwestern Ontario, Canada. Founded in 1967 as part of Ontario's provincial system of colleges of applied arts and technology, Fanshawe grew out of the Ontario Vocational Centre (OVC) that was originally established in London, Ontario in 1962, with its first classes held on September 28, 1964.
Today, Fanshawe is one of the largest colleges in Canada, with campuses in London, Simcoe, St. Thomas, and Woodstock, as well as additional locations in Southwestern Ontario. The college offers more than 200 degree, diploma, certificate, and apprenticeship programs to approximately 43,000 students each year, including over 10,000 international students from more than 100 countries.
Fanshawe is recognized as a leader in co-operative education at the college level in Canada, offering more than 70 co-op programs — more than any other college in the country. The college's name has its origins in Old English, meaning 'a temple in the woods,' reflecting the heritage of the former hamlet of Fanshawe where the campus was built.
