Curriculum & Course Modules
The Business - Insurance program includes 22 compulsory courses spread across four academic semesters, plus general education electives. The curriculum blends foundational business knowledge with specialized insurance industry training, preparing you for the CIP designation exams and professional practice.
This course covers the fundamentals of the loss adjusting process, including how claims are investigated, documented, and resolved within property and casualty insurance contexts.
Students develop the core competencies required for insurance brokering and agency work, including client communication, policy analysis, and ethical sales practices.
This course introduces legal principles affecting liability insurance, including the Canadian legal system, common law versus the Civil Code of Quebec, and how liability may or may not be insured.
An introduction to ASPE, IFRS, accounting terminology, the double-entry bookkeeping system, accrual accounting, financial statements, and basic accounting systems for sole proprietorships and corporations.
Students learn to manage personal finances, covering topics such as budgeting, credit management, group benefits, RRSPs, TFSAs, pension plans, insurance coverage, and investment products.
