Upon successful completion, graduates can continue their studies with advanced standing in Conestoga's Payroll and Bookkeeping diploma or the Business Administration - Accounting advanced diploma. The program is offered at Conestoga's Kitchener - Doon and Brantford campuses, as well as online through Continuing Education.

Curriculum & Course Modules
The Bookkeeping certificate program requires the successful completion of 12 compulsory courses over two semesters. The curriculum covers the full accounting cycle, Canadian tax legislation, payroll administration, and professional communication, ensuring graduates are job-ready upon completion.
Introduces ASPE, IFRS, accounting terminology, the accounting equation, the double-entry system of bookkeeping, the accrual basis of accounting, financial statements, and the ledgers and journals making up a basic accounting system for sole proprietorships and corporations.
Provides the knowledge required to prepare Canadian Income Tax Returns (T1), covering relevant Canadian legislation and regulations for accurate preparation of basic personal tax returns.
Covers the fundamentals of payroll processing, including payroll cycle calculations, compliance with legislative and government requirements, remittances, T4 preparation, and required filings.
Develops proficiency in using Microsoft Excel for accounting purposes, including creating spreadsheets, formulas, and reports essential for business analysis and financial decision-making.
Provides hands-on experience with industry-standard accounting software such as Sage 50 and QuickBooks Online, enabling students to manage bookkeeping tasks using computerized systems.
