Overview
The Health and Wellness program is a comprehensive three-year undergraduate program designed for students who wish to gain a broad and in-depth understanding of health, well-being, and disease prevention at both individual and societal levels. The program combines theoretical foundations with practical applications, preparing graduates to contribute effectively to health promotion initiatives, public health strategies, and wellness programs across diverse communities.
Students in the program explore a wide range of topics, including health promotion, disease prevention, nutrition, mental health, environmental health, and lifestyle management. They examine the complex interplay of biological, environmental, and social determinants of health, gaining the knowledge necessary to understand and address health challenges in a holistic manner. Issues of diversity, equity, social justice, and cultural competence are integrated throughout the curriculum, ensuring that graduates are equipped to work effectively with populations from varied backgrounds.
A key feature of the program is its practical, experiential learning component, which includes applied projects, community-based initiatives, and opportunities for students to engage with health organizations, clinics, and wellness programs. These experiences provide valuable hands-on training in program planning, health education, and community outreach, enabling students to translate theoretical knowledge into real-world solutions.
For students entering with health-related college diplomas, the program offers the opportunity to update existing knowledge, deepen understanding, and enhance professional credentials. Depending on previous coursework, students may be granted transfer credits, allowing for a more efficient pathway to degree completion while still receiving comprehensive training in advanced health and wellness topics.
Graduates of the Health and Wellness program are prepared for a variety of careers in public health, health promotion, community wellness, corporate wellness programs, and healthcare support services. The program also provides a strong foundation for those interested in pursuing graduate studies in public health, health administration, or related fields, equipping students with the analytical, communication, and critical thinking skills necessary to address current and emerging health challenges in society.
