Purpose of the Section

The aim of the Department of Mechatronic Engineering, where electronics, computers and mechanical sciences, which constitute the main structure of today's technology, are offered together, is to train research engineers who push the boundaries of international competition to the limit, have strong professional ethics, embrace human values, are equipped with theoretical and practical knowledge to follow the latest technologies and requirements in their field and update their knowledge, and thus can bring permanent and creative solutions to problems, and have analytical thinking, problem solving and modeling skills.

One of the biggest goals of our university is to become a science center that shapes the technology of the future by researching, discovering and producing new information and technologies with its faculty members as well as its engineers, by creating a base in the synthesis of universal science and modern education in order to become a leading higher education institution at the international level in the field of mechatronic technologies.


About the Department

The Department of Mechatronic Engineering, which was established in the 2009-2010 Academic Year at the Akfırat campus of our university, is ambitious about providing quality education in line with the needs of the day with its experienced academicians as well as its young and dynamic academicians.

Today, courses related to electricity, electronics, computers and machinery, which are the basic building blocks of technology that has entered every sector and is indispensable, are given to our students during their education. Our education content is organized not only to cover theoretical information but also to give our students the opportunity to practice and see the results. For this purpose, fully equipped laboratories and technical equipment with good technological infrastructure are offered to our students.

In the Department of Mechatronic Engineering, our students have the opportunity to practice in logic circuits, basic electronics and mechatronic system design laboratories in the first two years of their education. In the third year, our students have intensive practice in application-oriented communication, design with FPGA, microcontroller, electrical machines, power electronics and mechatronic measurement laboratories. In the last year of their education, our students have the opportunity to work on various advanced electrical, electronics, machinery and mechatronics topics.


Program Education Purpose / Program Outcomes


Program Education Purpose:

  • They can conduct research and development by taking postgraduate education in R&D units or universities.
  • They can work in various sectors, especially automation, robotics, automotive, defense industry and autonomous systems.
  • They become engineers who can work as researchers in European Union and TUBITAK projects.
  • They engage in commercial ventures focused on technology development.

Program Outputs:

  • Adequate knowledge of mathematics, science and engineering subjects related to their own field; ability to apply theoretical and applied knowledge in these fields to model and solve engineering problems.
  • Ability to identify, formulate and solve complex engineering problems; ability to select and apply appropriate analysis and modelling methods for this purpose.
  • The ability to design a complex system, process, device or product under realistic constraints and conditions to meet specific requirements; the ability to apply modern design methods for this purpose. (Realistic constraints and conditions include elements such as economy, environmental problems, sustainability, manufacturability, ethics, health, safety, social and political issues, depending on the nature of the design.)
  • Ability to develop, select and use modern techniques and tools necessary for engineering practice; ability to use information technologies effectively.
  • Ability to design and conduct experiments, collect data, analyze and interpret results to investigate engineering problems.
  • Ability to work effectively in disciplinary and multi-disciplinary teams; ability to work individually.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in Turkish, both verbally and in writing; knowledge of at least one foreign language.
  • Awareness of the necessity of lifelong learning; the ability to access information, follow developments in science and technology, and constantly renew oneself.
  • Awareness of professional and ethical responsibility.
  • Knowledge of business practices such as project management, risk management and change management; awareness of entrepreneurship, innovation and sustainable development.
  • Knowledge of contemporary issues and the universal and societal impacts of engineering practices on health, the environment and safety; awareness of the legal implications of engineering solutions.
