Ecology and Biogeography in Conservation

Biodiversity Planning and Legislation

Addresses the non-biological contexts shaping conservation in the UK, including statutory agencies, non-statutory organisations, current environmental legislation and countryside planning policy relating to conservation and public access.

Restoration and Conservation Planning

15 Credits

Incorporates the latest developments in applying ecological theory to restoration and management planning for conservation. You will develop skills to write a management plan for a given site and apply key concepts in restoration ecology to real-world settings.

Vertebrate Monitoring and Management

10 Credits

Provides a species-centred approach to conservation using field-based monitoring techniques for mammals and amphibians such as bats, newts and small mammals. Enhances skills in navigation, health and safety assessment, data handling and scientific writing.

GIS and Cartography for Conservation Management

Conservation Placement
