Computer science, electrical engineering and information technology
University of Stuttgart, Alemania
Descripción general
In computer science and information technology, we cover the entire spectrum of information and communication technologies: from nano- and optoelectronics, through the fundamentals of hardware and software, to highly complex application systems and their visual and verbal representation. Other important areas of expertise in electrical engineering include energy conversion, environmentally friendly power generation and distribution, and research into power semiconductors.
The faculty in brief
- Two departments – Computer Science and Electrical Engineering and Information Technology
- Almost 50 professors – in 25 institutes
- Around 3,000 students – about 1,800 in bachelor's programs and 1,200 in master's programs; a total of around 20% women
- 16 degree programs – 6 Bachelor's programs, computer science teaching, 6 Master's programs, 4 international Master's programs; in addition, there is participation in several other degree programs, especially in the Bachelor's area
- Long tradition – 1882 first professor of electrical engineering at the Technical University of Stuttgart; already in the winter semester 1970/71 computer science course
Disciplinary and interdisciplinary networking
We collaborate in research and teaching with numerous institutions both within and outside the university. Of particular note are joint research and teaching projects with the Departments of Mechanical Engineering, Mathematics and Physics, and the Faculty of Humanities in the field of Digital Humanities. We are also involved in the GSaME, IntCDC, and SimTech excellence projects. We have collaborative projects with industry and universities, particularly the Robert Bosch Center for Power Electronics and the Herman Hollerith Center (both with Reutlingen University). We also participate in two cooperative doctoral programs on the topics of "Digital Media" and "Service Computing."
