Überblick
Graduates of the Master's Degree in Archaeology and Art History are expected to be able to clearly and unambiguously communicate their conclusions and research, as well as the underlying knowledge and rationale, both for popular and specialized purposes. A strong command of the written language, with specific control of the terminology and vocabulary specific to the archaeological and art-historical disciplines, is a key requirement. To this end, graduates, thanks to the experience gained during their degree program in producing written papers, both during research seminars and for their final dissertation, and thanks to the international scope of the Master's Degree, which allows for the development of content while also taking into account the European and French context, will be able to produce scientific dissemination papers in the field, both in specialized periodicals and for the illustrative purposes of museums, archaeological parks, and temporary exhibitions. At the same time, graduates will have acquired the skills to critically explore and utilize the communication possibilities offered by new technologies and information technology. This will be achieved through meetings with Italian and international IT communication experts, focusing on the most recent and effective experiences of using innovative technological systems for communication in local museums and/or archaeological sites. Furthermore, they will benefit from exchanges provided for in the international program, which allow them to gain international experience in cultural heritage communication.
Communication skills will be monitored and assessed throughout the program, both in final exams and, most importantly, during the preparation and defense of the thesis.
Upon completion of the master's degree program, graduates should possess specialized knowledge and learning skills. This will be achieved through the acquisition of complex and multidisciplinary approaches and study methods in the fields of archaeology and art history, focusing on a broad and in-depth understanding of the archaeological and art-historical heritage; the technical aspects and morphological-structural characteristics of movable and immovable cultural heritage and their restoration and conservation needs; and knowledge of the regulatory and legislative framework applicable to archaeological and art-historical heritage.
Graduates should also possess adequate skills to manage professional and ethical responsibilities useful in pursuing their research and/or professional activities (working in a team, operating with defined degrees of autonomy, and readily integrating into work environments) and possess the basic cognitive and methodological tools for continuously updating their knowledge. Must have acquired a good command of at least one European Union language other than Italian, possibly improved since the time of admission through reading foreign bibliographies and participating in international conferences and working groups.
