Fortgeschrittene Elektronik- und Kommunikationstechnologien (Englisch) - Abschlussstudiengang
Campus Tuzla, Truthahn
Purpose of the Program
The development of electronics has enabled the transmission of various information such as images, sounds, and data at high speed and quality, creating brand new communication application areas. Today, the internet, mobile phones, radio, and TV have become a part of daily life. For this reason, countries around the world are making significant research and development investments in the fields of electronics and communications.
Communication, which aims to transfer the maximum amount of information from a limited frequency band, is constantly developing and is gaining more and more space in daily life with new applications. Developments in communication are based on two main reasons. The first is the new communication technologies such as digital communication, sensor network structures, MIMO, GSM systems. The other reason is the developments in electronic technology. The emergence of new integrated circuit technologies has made it possible to design and produce communication technologies that were not previously possible to develop. As can be seen, communication is an interdisciplinary field where electronics, analog and digital signal processing, information theory and modulation theory are processed together.
As mentioned above, training research engineers who are competent in modern electronics and communication technologies is of great importance for our country. In order to determine the needs of the electronics and communication sector in Turkey, a survey was conducted among experienced engineers and managers working in leading companies in the sector to determine their expectations from a graduate program in electronics and communication. The results of this survey prepared the basis for the 'Advanced Electronics and Communication Technologies' graduate program planned to be opened within the Institute of Science at Istanbul OKAN University. In this way, expert engineers graduating from this program will provide the qualified manpower with technical knowledge that the sector needs.
Goals of our Master's Program:
- To implement a researcher training program that will prepare graduate students for academic and research careers,
- To train expert engineers in the fields needed by the electronics and communications sector in our country,
- To be a pioneer in the fields of electronics and communication,
- Creating new opportunities in education and research,
- To create an infrastructure of academics of the future who will seek solutions to fundamental problems in their field of education and expand the horizons of knowledge of humanity,
- Attracting the best students of the country to the newly opened master's program,
- To renew experienced engineers in industrial organizations with this program,
- To undertake a role in emphasizing the importance of research and examination by participating in the solution of the problems of the sector through master's theses and course projects.
Structure of the Program
Students who have obtained a minimum of 55 (fifty-five) from the Academic Personnel and Postgraduate Education Entrance Exam (ALES) conducted by the Student Selection and Placement Center (ÖSYM) and have a bachelor's degree in Electrical - Electronics Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Communication Engineering and Electronics and Communication Engineering can be accepted to the THESIS Master's Program. In addition, graduates of the Electrical Engineering or Control Engineering programs can follow the main program with a 1-semester course program within the framework of the 'Scientific Preparatory Program'.
There are 18 courses recommended for the program, each course has 3 credits. These are grouped under two headings as Compulsory Courses and Elective Courses. Students must complete at least 21 credits of courses, a non-credit seminar course determined by the advisor, and a master's thesis until graduation. The list of compulsory and elective courses and their credits are given below.
