This award-linked module puts international corporate governance in context, covering different models of corporate governance, convergence and path dependence theories, harmonisation of corporate governance codes, the role of the board of directors, the relationship between the board and shareholders, disclosure, accountability, and the future of global corporate governance.

Research Methods Training

Compulsory

A series of compulsory and optional research methods training sessions delivered in your first terms to prepare you for your dissertation. You will develop essential skills in legal research methodology, academic writing, and critical analysis.

Dissertation in International Corporate Governance

Core Module

The dissertation is assessed by submission of a 15,000-word thesis and provides an opportunity for sustained, in-depth, and intensive investigation into a specialist area of International Corporate Governance through independent research.

Induction (Compulsory for non-law graduates)

A two-week induction module compulsory for non-law students, covering the fundamental principles of the English Legal System. Also open to law graduates seeking a refresher, particularly those who have taken a considerable break from legal education.

  • Induction ExemptionExemption available if you hold an LLB (or equivalent) or have completed a minimum of 3 legal modules worth at least 80 QCF credits including English Legal System, Contract Law, and Law of Tort
  • Visa RequirementsStudents requiring a Student Route visa are not permitted to study online and must choose face-to-face taught modules
  • Work ExperienceNo prior work experience required, though professional experience in law or business is beneficial
