Schiller International University (SIU) is a private American university founded in 1964 by Dr. Walter Leibrecht, a German-born educator who held academic positions at Columbia University and Harvard Divinity School. Named after the distinguished German poet and philosopher Friedrich Schiller, the university was established as the first American multicampus university in Europe, originally opening at a medieval castle near Stuttgart, Germany.

The Madrid campus, which first opened in 1967, is now located in a historic building on Paseo de Recoletos, next to the Paseo del Prado (a UNESCO World Heritage Site) and the Spanish National Library. SIU follows a U.S. curriculum with English as the language of instruction across all campuses, and students can transfer seamlessly between locations in Madrid, Paris, Heidelberg, and Tampa without losing credits.

Accredited by the Accrediting Commission of Career Schools and Colleges (ACCSC) since 2023, and recognized by the Comunidad de Madrid, Schiller offers undergraduate and graduate programs focused on International Business, International Relations and Diplomacy, Data Science, Computer Science, and more. With over 20,000 alumni representing more than 130 nationalities, SIU has built a truly global educational community.
