Mechatronics Engineering
Program Overview: MSc Mechatronics MA+ at KTU
As Industry 4.0 and 5.0 continue to transform the high-tech sector, there is an increasing need for engineers with a versatile skillset in integrated mechatronics. The Mechatronics MA+ Master's programme at Kaunas University of Technology provides the interdisciplinary research skills needed for a successful career in computational design, smart manufacturing, and the testing of advanced equipment for automated production, transport, aerospace, and biomedical applications.
This study programme is developed to upgrade your interdisciplinary engineering skills, which are based on the systematic combination of knowledge and methods within the fields of mechanical, control, and computer engineering. After your studies, you will be able to solve complex technical problems related to the design, analysis, quality assurance, operation, monitoring, and diagnostics of macro- and micro-mechatronic systems.
The MA+ competence model allows you to choose between two study paths: the Field Expert path, where you can specialise in areas such as composite structures, micro-electro-mechanical systems, or virtual prototyping; or the Interdisciplinary Expert path, which broadens your skillset with wide-ranging transferable competences. The programme provides hands-on experience with CAD/CAE/CAM software, industrial robots, 3D scanners, 3D printers, and precision instruments.
Key Program Highlights
- KTU pioneered mechatronics studies in Lithuania and has long-standing experience in the field, with open access to advanced educational and research facilities.
- Flexible MA+ competence model with two pathways: Field Expert for deep specialisation or Interdisciplinary Expert for broader transferable skills.
- Hands-on training with FESTO and ABB robots, 3D scanners and printers, Mitutoyo precision instruments, and industry-standard software including SolidWorks, Ansys, Comsol, and Siemens Plant Simulation.
- International exchanges and research partnerships facilitated through over 500 partner universities in 50 countries via Erasmus+ and bilateral agreements.
