Founded in 1997 by the Common Knowledge Society Regional Branch in Wrocław, DSW University of Lower Silesia (Uniwersytet Dolnośląski DSW) has grown into one of the most important private academic centers in the Lower Silesia region. As one of the few non-public universities in Poland with full academic rights, DSW holds the authority to confer doctoral and postdoctoral degrees.
